The European Day of Languages aims to draw the public's attention to the importance of language learning, raise awareness of all the languages spoken in Europe and encourage lifelong language learning.

you can read about what it is and how it is celebrated.
Have you ever celebrated it?
What would you like to do for that?

Hello Elena and students!

701 Reasons to Study a Foreign Language
I believe there are so many reasons to learn a foreign language. How about yours?

Thank you, Claudia, fir a very interesting link :)
I guess that my reasons for learning Foreign Languages don`t differ much from these 700...
But, first of all, I learn them for pleasure: I adore English, I get an immence satisfaction when I speak it, I wish to learn Spanish and French, too :)
And, of course, the fact that it broadens my mind and my perspectives is of great importance, too :) It also enables me to communicate with the foreigners, what really is exiting, and very important for me: my cousin-in-law is a foreigner, and I also wish English helped me to make friends abroad!
it also enables me to read literature in the original - is that not exciting?!
Foreign Languages and the ability to learn and use them is nothing but a miracle!
Hi Lena!
That's very interesting, in Brazil there isn't a Day of Languages, which I think would be very important. After all (agreeing with Xena), learning and using a foreign language is a miracle, making of us, language teachers, miracle-working professionals
=)
