Everybody of us makes a lot of mistakes during his life. It’s impossible to live without doing stupidities and making mistakes…Some of them are very silly. After a fall a man should stand up and move to his aims, not lose heart. It’s important not to allow anybody to break you and your life…
Seeing the film «The Graduate», I found how the main character, a shy and hesitating guy turned into a strong personality, fighting for his woman and happiness. Delicate humour left a deep impression on me, I remembered the «luggage» of Benjamin – his toothbrush and the dialogue with his father:
- I just want to say one word to you.
- Yes, sir.
- Are you listening?
- Yes, I’m.
- Plastics.
- Exactly, how do you mean?
- There’s a great future in plastics. Think about it. Will you think about it?
- Yes, I will…
The music in this movie is wonderful. Most if all I liked the melody «Sounds of silence». I was even humming it during the whole evening after we had watched the film.
The key actor Dustin Hoffman starred in his role; it’s a powerful picture, an amusing and delightful comedy.
The movie was fairly nominated for a total of seven Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, Best Actor ( Dustin Hoffman), Best Actress ( Anne Bancroft).
The producer’s work is enormous. He put his soul in the movie, the mixture of colourful costumes, delicate humour and a wonderful music and, of course, a cast of gifted actors and actresses have helped to create a real masterpiece.
I think «The Graduate» is a hit with the public nowadays, because the problem of man’s happiness and love WAS, IS and WILL be always actual.

After I had watched “The Graduate” Dustin Hoffman opened up to me. His acting was so brilliant that I couldn’t help watching the other films with his participation. I watched “Rain Man” and now I’m really sure that he is an outstanding actor. But Dustin Hoffman is not a single reason why one should watch this film.
“The Graduate” is very stylish and without doubt it will be actual in all times. It looks modern and if you don’t pay attention to the cars, clothes, you won’t believe that the picture is forty! I can’t say that it’s an ordinary film, but it’s very pleasant, tender and ironical. The humour for example is rare but subtle and apt: “Mrs. Robinson, you 're trying to seduce me?”.
Besides I was greatly touched by the melody “The sound of silence”, it was so romantic, that I felt all the tragedy and passion of the main characters. It’s a rare example when you can’t imagine the film without this music.

“The graduate”, the picture, which I watched several days ago at the American corner left a deep and lasting impression on me. To my mind it is a very interesting film, because, it conceals a very deep psychological message.
The main characters created true-to-life images of rich people, whose views on life and moral were falling into decay. Mrs Robinson was a perfect example of it. She, the mother of the family, the wife of a successful husband, to whom she seemed to be devoted as nobody in the world, was impudently unfaithful to him. She seduced one young, promising but inexperienced in the cases of love undergraduate, Ben by name. And the worst thing was that she did it not because of her great love for him but simply to entertain herself. Ben, in his turn, at that moment of his life was at a loss, having no definite purpose in life, he fell in the trap, prepared for him by mrs Robinson.
Soon he met a wonderful girl of his dreams, Elaine by name. And everything seemed to be all right if only she were not mrs Robinson’s daughter.
Unwittingly I remembered the epigraph of the novel “Captain’s daughter”, written by A.S. Pushkin “One should take care of his honour since youth and his dress since it is new”. Of course Ben realized that his relationship with mrs Robinson was a terrible blunder. But nothing could be changed. To Ben’s great happiness fortune did not make him pay too much for it. He expiated his guilt, he sought his favorite Elaine high and low and proved that he deserved her love. The girl forgave him, because she believed that everything before their meeting meant nothing to him.
Thus, many people make mistakes, but unfortunately not all of us can change for the better, forgive and deserve to be forgiven.
This empty of any serious content film, as it seems to be at first sight, proves that real love exists even in our cruel world of money, lie and treachery.

Last Tuesday we watched the film “The Graduate” with Hoffman in the main role. What can I say about it? I must confess that it impressed me.
At first it seems that the plot of the film is rather ordinary. But further on it twists into an interesting story. I would like to mention the fact that this movie excited the curiosity of mine, because we, like the main character Benjamin Breddock, will graduate from the University soon and before us the whole world will come to light with a great number of outlooks. And we will have to make our choice. Here many young people can’t find themselves and get lost.
Benjamin Breddock pronounces: “My whole life is a waste! It’s nothing!” The very feelings many young people experience. And in this case it’s important to nearby such people who are able to give you a good piece of advice, such advice which Mrs. Robinson’s husband gives the main character. He advices him to take everything from the life because he “will never be young again”.
Moreover for every person love plays a very important role. The main character met such a girl. And though through making mistakes and experiences, he realized that she was his real love and fought for her till the end. I came to the same conclusion: we should fight for our love!
As far as I know, this picture is very popular in the USA and now I understand why: this melodrama with some elements of humor performs us deep thoughts and makes us think.

The story is great. It's a story that can be cute, funny, dramatic and intriguing. The screenwriter makes use of these possibilities and does so well. The story is well written and the characters are great. You get to love them and hate them and you get to understand their behavior. There's good drift in the story and you get interested and want to watch the rest. Dustin Hoffman is excellent and nothing less. His portray of Ben Braddock is great. I don't think I've ever seen him deliver such a performance. Anne Bancroft as Mrs. Robinson is also great. She gives her character life in a great way. The rest of the cast also lives up to the leads and delivers great performances.
